Heat Exchangers – BOTFAN™

The air-to-air or air-to-gas heat exchanger can be installed to provide adequate conditioning of the gas coming from the process through the concept of forced convection.

Use CRANFOS Heat Exchangers to Optimize Gas Conditioning: Lower Temperature, Increase Efficiency!

The air-to-air or air-to-gas heat exchanger can be installed to provide adequate conditioning of the gas coming from the process through the concept of forced convection.

CRANFOS heat exchangers are designed to reduce the gas temperature. To achieve this, convection concepts are applied in the sizing and design of our equipment with a high degree of efficiency.

The construction contains several passage tubes for the gas coming from the customer’s process. The air passes through a chamber where continuous air circulation takes place at room temperature to allow thermal exchange between the gas and air through the tube walls. The number of tubes defines the area in which the exchange will occur. This dimensioning takes into account arrangements that our technology defines to provide the best exchange area with the ambient air flow.

The speed at which the gas will pass through the tubes is also a very important item to ensure that there is no great loss of pressure and to prevent the gas particles from adhering to the inner wall of the tube, which would increase the loss to be achieved by the fan.

The arrangement of the tubes and the flow direction adopted mean that part of the particulate material is retained at this stage of the filtration process. To this end, the equipment is equipped with hopper(s) for storing and discharging this material through screw conveyors, rotary valves, knife valves, etc.

Reduce Equipment Size with CRANFOS Heat Exchangers to Save Money and Improve Filtration!

One of the main attractions of this equipment is the possibility of reducing the size of the filtering equipment (Bai-Press10 or HiPress Bag Filter, Electrostatic Precipitator or other equipment) to which the gas will be sent, as this will have a lower volumetric flow rate than the flow rate at the exchanger inlet, in addition to there also being a reduction in the volume of particulate matter, as part of it is retained in the exchanger hopper.

The decrease in temperature also influences the selection of the type of sleeve to be used in the case of a Bag Filter since the sleeve material does not need to be of a special composition to withstand high temperatures, which significantly reduces the cost of this equipment.

In the end, there are many cases where the use of a Heat Exchanger ends up reducing the total cost of the system, since its value can be deducted from the amount saved by reducing the size of the filtering equipment and using thousands of simpler composition sleeves, which also implies a lower operating cost.
