Denitrification

CRANFOS also provides equipment for Denitrification, which acts by removing oxygenated nutrients connected to nitrogen and then returning it to the atmosphere in gaseous form.

Improve Emissions Control with CRANFOS SCR Technology and Reduce NOx by Up to 90%!

Denitrification of gaseous effluents is a fundamental process to reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from various industrial processes, such as power plants, chemical and petrochemical industries, glass industry, etc. There are several technologies, equipment and methods to perform the denitrification of gaseous effluents, such as the SNCR (Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction) process, the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) process being one of the most common, etc.

SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction):

One of the most common methods for reducing nitrogen oxides used in industries, the SCR process is highly efficient and can reduce NOx emissions by up to 90%. As demonstrated in the reaction formulas, Ammonia (NH3) is injected together with the process gas and this mixture passes through a catalytic bed, where N2 and H2O(v) are formed.

4NH3 + 4NO + O2 → 4N2 + 6H2O
4NH4 + 2NO2 + O2 → 3N2 + 6H2O

Contact with the catalytic bed acts to reduce the reaction temperature. Without the presence of a catalyst, this reaction occurs at approximately 980°C, and with the presence of a suitable catalyst, it can be carried out at between 300 and 400°C.
