CRANFOS Low-Pressure Filtration: Compact, Efficient Gas Purification
With cutting-edge technology exclusive to CRANFOS, this equipment performs dry filtration of industrial gases and its name also comes from the type of cleaning to which it is subjected. It is used to filter various particulate materials from industrial process gases, whose forced flow through exhaust provides a continuous filtration operation of the gas through the bags.
The main difference between this type of filter and the conventional bag filter (high pressure) is that low pressure air is used to clean the bags and with bags up to 8.5 m long, providing little installation space in the factory.
As the gas passes through the bags, the particulate matter is retained on the outer surface of the bag. After a certain time, the gas passage area decreases and, consequently, the pressure drop in the fan increases.
At this point, the cleaning system kicks in and blows compressed air at low pressure into the system (only 0.8 bar), specifically inside the bags, causing a slight agitation throughout the bag, which is necessary to release the retained particulate matter. This air blowing is automatically controlled by differential pressure transmitters, electronically through a programmed PLC.
Durable, Efficient, and Low-Maintenance Gas Purification
Our technology allows the useful life of our sleeves to be much longer since they are not constantly subjected to shock waves that damage their structural composition.
Once shaken, the particulate material is detached from the surface of the bag and falls to the bottom of the hopper, where it is deposited for later transport. This transport is also taken into account at the time of design, so that equipment can be designed with different hopper arrangements, which will identify the best type of output control for this material, whether by a screw conveyor in the case of longitudinal hoppers, rotary valves in the case of pyramidal hoppers, pneumatic conveyors or other technologies.
The bags, vital items for the proper functioning and efficiency of the equipment, have characteristics appropriate for each type of process, where variables such as temperature, gas composition and emission limit make the choice of the type of bag very important, since these variables will also increase or decrease the total pressure loss for dimensioning and specification of the fan that will exhaust the gases through ducts and hoods to the filter.
With advanced technologies, the sleeves used in our equipment are manufactured with the best materials on the market and are highly resistant.
The extensive technology that CRANFOS has provides greater freedom to develop filter projects for large gas flows without reducing efficiency or causing structural problems in our equipment.
Different and standardized types of inlets influenced the type of deflector plate for internal protection of the bags and other internal components sized so as not to cause a large loss of pressure in the system. For internal safety and maintenance, dampers are used, when required, to control the gas flow in each chamber.
Other features that make this type of filter superior to conventional filters are:
- Very low maintenance required, much easier due to the height of the clean gas plenum which allows technicians to enter to maintain the bags;
- Smaller area required for installation, as the sleeve has a different shape that allows the filter body to be reduced;
- Lower energy consumption;
- Among several other advantages.
